Scrapbook chiefly of personal and business correspondence received, genealogical material on the Eddy and related families, and clippings, along with a few business cards, announcements, programs, postcards, telegrams, etc. kept by Eddy (1828-1905, bulk 1886-1899). Much of the correspondence concerns his efforts to secure a position as a freight clerk with the Western & Atlantic Railroad or the New England Railroad Company. Includes index for the genealogical materials and notes.

In 1836, the Georgia State Legislature approved bonds to finance the creation of a rail line to open Georgia to the trade of the Tennessee and Ohio Valleys. Initially called the State Road, the line began in an area of north Georgia that would become Atlanta, and ran 137 miles to Chattanooga, Tennessee.
